The DASCOR® Disc Arthroplasty System is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for relieving chronic back pain, often caused by Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), which does not respond to non-operative care. Currently, the traditional surgical option for DDD is spinal fusion. In this highly invasive and irreversible procedure, a surgeon removes the patient's natural disc and creates a solid bony mass using an alternative bone source. It requires lengthy recovery times, can severely limit spinal motion, and may potentially affect the levels of adjacent anatomy.
Another surgical option is motion-preserving total disc replacement. This procedure involves replacing the patient's natural disc with an artificial implant designed to mimic the function of the original.
The DASCOR® Disc Arthroplasty System provides a treatment designed to leave most of the patient's own anatomy intact and help to restore pre-diseased function. |
