Patient Information
How does the DASCOR® Disc Arthroplasty System work?
A surgeon using the DASCOR® System removes the diseased nucleus from inside a disc and through an incision approximately the diameter of a pencil, then implants a patient-specific polymer implant designed to fit and function like the patient's original nucleus once did.
Step One
The surgeon accesses the spine creating a small entry site into the annulus or outer portion of the disc.

Step Two
The abnormal nucleus is removed through the entry site, and a catheter tube with a specially designed balloon is inserted into the disc space.

Step Three
The balloon is filled with contrast solution that allows it to be seen on an X-ray. These images of the balloon are taken to insure proper positioning and sizing of the final implant. The catheter is then removed.
